Do I need to scrape old peeling paint off of concrete walls if i am repainting them?
I really want to repaint my basement but i was wondering if i actually have to peel the old paint off? the walls are concrete so i thought i should ask. Sugestions welcome, thanks!!
You don't have to scrape all the paint off. take a wire brush and scrape off any loose paint. Then prime the areas you scraped. Use a oil based primer. Just pay attention to whether the concrete was painted with latex or oil. If oil then new paint should be oil. If latex, then redo with latex.
If it is smooth concrete, roll out with 1/2 inch nap lambs wool roller cover. If its rough concrete then use 1 inch nap roller lambs wool cover.
